How to create an FTP account

In this guide we will show you how to create an FTP account on SwizzHosting, for publishing your website files.

  1. From the main page of your cPanel, click on FTP Accounts.

  1. On the next page, enter your username in the Log in field.

Warning! The final username will consist of the name you enter followed by @[domain name].

  1. In the password field, enter a password of your choice. The password must have a security level of at least 65.
  1. In the Directory field enter the path to the folder you wish to access with the FTP user. If you want to access the folder of the main domain configured on the hosting, we recommend that you only enter the value "/public_html". Otherwise, delete the entire content in order to access it from the hosting home directory.
  1. In the field Quota you can set a maximum data threshold for the upload of files by this user. We recommend that you leave the default setting Unlimited
  1. Then click on Create FTP account.

Your FTP account is now created.

To access the web space via FTP, configure your client with these parameters:

  • Host name: ftp.[domain.ext]
  • User name: the one you created
  • Password: your choice
  • Port: 21

You can still find the correct configuration parameters by clicking on the link Configure FTP client
